Island:

Below is a random selection from the accommodation section
Benbecula, linked only by causeways, each island has its own distinctive beauty and character from mountainous terrain and sandy beachesto sea lochs.

A drive from bottom to top is an absorbing experience to see the landscape change. Many points of interest are to be found off the main road so make sure you explore the single track roads and pathways as you go.

The Hebrides enjoy a different culture, language, and scenery, largely because of the Minch separating the island from mainland scotland and the rest of britain.

That stretch of sea does not, however, make it difficult to get to the Outer Hebrides.

By air you can reach the island in less than one hour from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness and in two to three hours from London.

Car and passenger ferries make the journey quick and comfortable if you prefer the sea road to the isles.

Katie and Murdo MacLeod welcome you to 'Glendale' Bed and Breakfast on the island of Grimsay in the Western Isles of Scotland.

'Glendale' B&B is located at the mid point of the circular road round the island of Grimsay with easy access to Benbecula, North and South Uist via the causeways which carry the main north-south road, making it a perfect base for your visit to the Uists.

There is a spacious lounge for the guest's use with a TV, VCR and some reading materials.

Quality purpose built - 4 star luxury self-catering house, superbly divided into 2 luxury self-catering apartments, with panoramic views of the ocean and the hills of South Uist.

The beautiful Isle of Eriskay lies off the southern tip of South Uist in the Western Isles and is a haven of peace and tranquillity for visitors and wildlife alike. Now accessed by a causeway, Eriskay is not the remote spot it used to be - there is easy access to South Uist, Benbecula and North Uist, all of which are linked by causeways. Ferry trips can be taken to explore Barra, Harris or the Isle of Lewis. The scenery found in this group of islands is stunning and the culture unique. Fishing is abundant in freshwater “dubh lochans” and sea inlets. Eriskay is the home of Britain's rarest native pony and is also famous for inspiring Sir Compton McKenzie's story

We have been a Tourist Board, 4 Star graded establishment, since we started providing Bed and Breakfast, some seventeen years ago.

The house is situated on the family croft, with a southerly aspect over West Loch Tarbert. Two of the bedrooms and the lounge, have extensive views of the loch. Birdwatching is a popular pastime and we are ideally located, whatever the time of year. Please view the rest of the site and get a taste of the Hebrides.

Less than an hour's drive from the Calanish Stones, to the North and half an hour to St Clement's Church at Rodel, in between are the majestic hills of North Harris and the golden sandy beaches of Luskentyre, Seilebost and Horgabost.

Please let us know your needs and questions, we will be more than happy to help.

We look forward to sharing our knowledge and appreciation of this wonderful island, with as many people as possible, across the world.

To get here from the ferry terminal, follow the A859 towards Stornoway. We are approx. 3/4 mile, on the left hand side, just as you leave the village. If arriving from Stornoway, then we are the first house in Tarbert and if travelling by bus, just ask the driver for Avalon. If you intend arriving by ferry into Tarbert and have no transport, let us know and we will pick you up from the terminal.
